I was wondering if you could help me? I am researching
an MIA and have found out his Unit, detachment, etc, and have been
searching the web for more information.
SSGT Robert D. Herreid
5th SFG, Company D,
detachment A-402
Unfortunately, I know NOTHING about the military, so I'm having a
difficult time finding anything. Do you have any suggestions about
sites to check out? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you very
much. Staci Nascargal5@aol.com |
Hello, My name is Ron Stier and
I am Detective with the Holly Hill Police Dept, Holly Hill, Florida.
I am attempting to locate anyone who knew Sgt. Brown,
who is the only MIA listed from our city in Vietnam. Sgt.Brown was
listed as an MIA on 032868 in Laos. My Lt. is interested, along with
other members of the dept, in creating a memorial in the city.
So if anyone is interested in perhaps telling us a little more of
Sgt Brown I would like to hear from them. My email address is
ronstiers1042@compuserve.com
the statistics and the data I have found
so far does not tell about the man, and I would like to learn about
him. Thanks in advance for all assistance. Ron Stier |
I'm a model builder and I focus on 1/35 scale Vietnam era Dioramas. All
modelers strive for complete undeniable accuracy in their projects.I
sketching out a diorama involving SFC Donahue/ CAPT Gritz
in one of their A 101 DETS during "Blackjack". So
many questions about weapons, what type of fatigues, right down to
the color of the mud they humped all day in.There are some books out
and I've read a lot of them but they don't really give any tactical
squad info i.e. what did your radioman carry during the mission? AR-15?
Did Capt Gritz always carry a Swedish K?
Extraction gear (STABO/SPY RIG?) I just need some reliable sources
for real info, preferably Nam 5th Group Vets.
Heck, I would be glad/honored to build them a nice little desktop
Diorama(free!) just to say I know some of these
unsung heroes
Thanks for your help!

My name is Kimberly Belcher-Warhurst. My father served in the
green beret in Vietnam. I think he was in the 5th group. He retired
as a 1SG. I was wondering how I could find someone who can share
stories with me, as he passed away of a brain aneurysm when I
was 21 (1996). I didn't hear enough of "those history lessons".
A family member also told me that he was one of the first 12 members
of SF appointed by JFK to go to Vietnam. Could someone please
tell me if this is true or if it is just a myth. I would greatly
appreciate it! Thank you very much and
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

Subj: Looking for a former Special

Hi:
My American friend's name is John B. Woolery. He served with the US.
Special Forces in Vietnam and Thailand around the year 1967-69. After
returning to the US, he went to work for the Department of Defense.
It was sometimes around 1979 that I lost track of John. We went to
Woodside High School, Woodside, California, and graduated together
in 1961 and went on to San Jose State University in 1961 where John
was also an ROTC student.
John B. Woolery is one of my best American friends and I would like
very much to get in touch with him again. John can speak fluent Thai
as well as other languages. His nick name is Buck and his Thai name
is Bucksio. Can you help finding him and if you can find him, please
give
him my Thailand address shown below:

I am researching a couple
of photos I have. The photos are of 2, 5th group soldiers. One is
a COL Sky, (Sky evidently was a friend of the young
mans from Bragg and Okinawa) the other man's name is not known. (From
the name tag, when zoomed in, the letters ABB are all that show.)
I am trying to find out who these men are and what relation to my
family, be it just pen pals or in the family line. Col Sky,
is not the man who was corresponding, from what I gather on the back
of the photo. I had a friend of mine look at them and he said from
the looks of the uniform it was early Nam years. I am assuming that
these men are medics.
Stated on the back of the photo that he had put a local child on some
vitamin. The name of the camp was not noted on either photo, but the
words "montogyard patient" where on one of them. The photos seem to
have been taken in a near by village.

I served with the 48th Assault Helicopter
Company. My unit was assigned to support operations at FOB1 at Hue/Phu
Bai from 16 OCT 67 until 6 NOV 67. While I was there I worked with
a supply sergeant nicknamed Buddha, I'm not sure
I even knew his name.
I have some photographs of the area...one of them is a building with
a sign noting "Flying Tigers".
I understand that some of the missions flown at that time may still
be classified, but can you give me any information on "Buddha", the
unit, and at least the type of missions (Project Delta, Operation
Prairie Fire, etc.) that we may have participated in.
Thank you for any information you can provide. John-Al Skimbo

I'm Ken Rhodes from the 57th AHC the Gladiators, we flew you guys
over on FOB-2. Was your base camp? I was a crew chief on a slick.
We got hit over in Laos on April 4th 1969, we lost a bird over
there on the 1st of April also. I have been looking all these years
for the SF team that pulled me out of the Helicopter that day. I
had JP-4 all over me, and I can remember them saying get his cloths
off of him fast or he will cook, and get them out before this thing
blows. I had a gun shot wound in the left leg and a broken right
leg and my eye was hanging out of the socket. Hope someone can remember
that day. |
