ALLENC~2.jpg (21973 bytes) The 4 remaining team members of A-252, Plei Mrong, after Vietnamization of the camp in April '67, were sent to A-244, Dak To, to assist them in an operation northeast of camp, an area known as the Toumarong. This is a photo of our medic, SSG Sam Allen preparing to lead a CIDG company in an assault on elements of the 24th NVA Regiment on 16 May 1967. They were entrenched in the valley to his front. SSG Sam Allen was killed about 45 minutes after this photo was taken. Our XO, Lt Walter Penn was seriously wounded later in the day. We lost 2 USSF KIA and 2 WIA and at least 18 CIDG KIA in this operation.
