The complete radio package consists of HF, VHF, UHF and FM radios.
Normally, there is a small trailer attached carrying a generator
for sustained operations. We had two at Kontum. One was removed
from the jeep configuration and mounted on a reinforced trestle
table arrangement in the comm ops. building within our compound.
This set up was severely damaged by mortar rounds on our building.
We also had a second regular jeep mounted rig that is depicted in
the photo. The jeep rig was completely destroyed by automatic weapons
fire on the second or third night of TET 68. We were left with a
PRC-25 which we used to communicate with our FACs and to direct
gunships during the battle.
