“BULLSEYE” FLIGHT CALL SIGN For COMMAND AND CONTROL NORTH (CCN)
March through October 1971 I corps, Quang Tri, Vietnam Chief Warrant Officer, Gary L. Yates Assigned to B co. of 158th 101st out of Camp Evans in I corps Bullseye flight lead on many CCN missions during this period 6 X 6-foot canvas tarp with a target type bulls eye painted in the center. Above the bull’s eye is written “Bullseye” with marker pen. This Flight Insignia hung in the flight crews ready room of the Special Forces CCN compound in Quang Tri. In October of 1971 prior to Gary Yates leaving country, There was a farewell gathering for Gary. At this gathering, This Bullseye Flight Insignia was signed by many of the recon team leaders and members. This was then presented to CW2 Gary Yates along with a CCN plaque thanking him for his service to Special Forces. Along with the signatures, some team members wrote special comments. Some of these comments had special meaning based on a particular mission shared and some statements just reflected an attitude that may be required for survival in war. RT Team: Names: Statements:
