Owen, Robert Duval: MIA
(Info from Mark Anderkin Email Ianderkin@aol.com)
Rank/Branch: SPC/US Army Special Forces
Unit: Command & Control North, MACV-SOG, 5th Special Forces
Date of loss: 23 May 1968
Country of Loss: Laos (oops did I say that?)
Other person in incident: Glen O. Lane
Robert and Glen were the only two US members of the 6-man spike team "Idaho"
assigned to infiltrate a denied area across the Loa border west of A Loui. Spike
team "Oregon" was inserted into the same LZ after contact with Idaho
was lost.
After finding a trail, Oregon searched about 50 meters before being attacked
by a company size enemy force. Oregon extracted after suffering one killed and
seven wounded.
I would like to find his family, I know he has a daughter named Robin. I have
tried to contact AFFA POW/MAI without results.
