"SFC Lopez is a decorated war hero. He was nominated for the Medal of Honor for heroism and bravery, but for reasons never explained it was not awarded. He was however awarded posthumously the Distinguished Service Cross as well as many other decorations and medals.

Manuel Lopez was not only a professional soldier, he was a dedicated family man as well. He left behind a wife and five children."
