It sure seems like a lifetime ago. Gary Lamberty's photos really brought back some memories.

I put Vietnam behind me for many, many years, but my 30 year old son, Rob, who was conceived in Nha Trang (his mother was an Army Nurse at 8th Field Hospital) in 1968 is really interested in my experiences there. This has resulted in my "refreshing my memory." I've remembered the names of the places, but forgotten the geography and remembered the incidents in great detail, but forgotten the names of the people. It's been a long time; thirty years and three months since I was last in the Republic of Vietnam. It sure was different person than sits here typing this missive today.

When I first got to Nha Trang I spent a couple of months at the Headquarters Communications Center and then went over to Project Delta for about a year and a half (Jan. '67 - Aug. '68). I was an advisor to one of the Ranger Companies and worked recon for quite awhile. In the latter part of 1968 I was sent down to B-43 in September and worked communications there until I left in December 1968. I came back to the 3rd at Bragg and was assigned as an 11B4S. I made E-6, but decided to get out and in September, 1969, I was discharged and went back to college
in Illinois.
