Nelson J. Garcia, LTC SpecOps (Ret.)
I served with the 5th Special Forces Group from December, 1965 to December, 1966 in the Delta. I was the executive officer for the 4th Corps Mike Force under Major John Topp. We were quartered at Don Phuc (A-411) until the flood then moved temporarily to Can Tho. I wrote and planned the operation to clear Phuc Quoc Island on a joint operation by the SF and the Navy in August, 1966. We cleared the island but lost two good soldiers, SP4 Girtanner and SFC Lehew. If anyone out there was around during that period let me know.

"I wanted to let you know that I went on The Virtual Wall web page and added the photographs I had available on the men I served with that died in action. Wherever I could, always staying away from the possibility of hurting a loved one, I added a note telling of my experience with the person noted. I urge everyone who has this type of information, particularly photographs of our fellow combatants fallen in the service of their country, to post these along with any truthful, caring assessment of the person involved. I believe it can add terrifically to the wealth of information being gathered about those who died in Southeast Asia serving their country. In addition, it may well help a relative understand the sacrifice made by their loved one. Regards, Nelson"
