I arrived in RVN October, 1965, and was assigned to the Group Dispensary in Nha Trang as a general medical officer. During Nov. and Dec.I visited several camps in II Corps for Medcaps and to check out a plague outbreak.

Transferred to Det. C-4 in Can Tho, on 1 Jan '66 as the Surgeon. I replaced CPT Sergio Betancourt. I divided my time between the dispensary at Can Tho, visiting the B & A teams in IV Corps, and working at the local province hospital. The hospital had an AID surgical team(AF personnel) and there was a 60 bed ward for CIDG casualties.
When I arrived at Can Tho, the senior medic was SFC Joe Brock. He was replaced by SFC Ned Lowrey. We had a medical supply specialist, SP5 Jones, and a Preventive Medicine Specialist, SP4 Hale.

My tour was curtailed by DA in July so that I could return to Brooke General Hospital for a general surgery residency.
In 1971, I was scheduled to return to RVN to the 5th as Group Surgeon, but they were brought back to Bragg and my orders were changed to Bragg.

I retired as a colonel in 1987.
