From 6 October to 30 October 1965, the Detachment was stationed on the island of Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province, IV CTZ. At Phu Quoc, the Detachment received an additional mission of training a company of CIJG troops. A-111's activities were highlighted by their psychological operations and civic action projects. Through the efforts of the Detachments extensive psychological operations and civic action programs, two companies of KKK surrendered to the ARVN authorities. General Ky personally came to the area to accept the surrender and a pledge of allegiance from the KKK personnel.
