A-221, 1st SFGA

A-221, commanded by Capt Ballard, was located initially at Muc Hoa, Kien Tuong Province, IV CTZ, from 15 October 1964 - 6 March 1965. A-221's mission was to conduct border surveillance of the Vietnam-Cambodian border. On 7 March, the Detachment moved to Long Xuyen, An Giang Province, IV CTZ, where it began a training program for the CIDG and Regional-Popular forces in IV CTZ. The Detachment returned to Okinawa on 3 April 1965.**
